Great Lakes Equipment and Services LLC was started in October 2025 by it’s partners Ed Costine and Matt Cuckler.

Matt and Ed met several years before when Matt was a student in the Calhoun County Fire Academy in Tekonsha and Marshall MI where Ed was an instructor.  A few years later, after retirement, Ed moved to Tekonsha and became Matt’s neighbor.

Ed had begun dabbling in mini excavators, buying one and continuing to upgrade to larger machines by selling his current ones and moving up the chain of Chinese machines.  Eventually he and Matt discussed becoming a dealership for machines, but they agreed that only the highest quality machines would be worth getting into the business.

That’s where Huayee became the obvious choice.  With the help and guidance of the team at Energy Power Systems and the full line of HuayeeAmerica.com machines, the ability to connect high quality machines to people for affordable prices became possible.
